Biography
Dominique Thierry is born in 1957 in France. He obtained his PhD in corrosion science from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris France in 1988.
He is assistant professor (Docent) at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden since 1993. He has supervised about 25 PhD students and many graduate students.
He is author or co-author of about 260 scientific papers in peer review journals and of several book chapters. He has numerous presentations in international conferences (many times as invited speaker and chairman). His main fields of interest are atmospheric corrosion, localized electrochemical techniques, marine corrosion and surface protection.
He received numerous awards among which the European Federation of corrosion medal in 2021.
He has been working for several years as the technical director of the Swedish Corrosion Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the founder of the French Corrosion Institute established in France in 2002 and he was its managing director from 2002-2021.
He is currently senior technical adviser at RISE Research Institute of Sweden in Stockholm.
